Gearing up for Christmas
Two more classes until Christmas vacation....tonight and next Tuesday. If the weather co-operates and we are able to have class tonight we will be making a recipe from Nigella Lawson...Holiday Hot Cake with Egg Nog Cream. I made it the other week and it is delicious! Can't wait to teach it - if not tonight then next week.
I currently have a class running on Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. There is some room available in this class. Please contact me if you are interested in joining the Tuesday night class. I also offer classes on Monday's and Wednesday's at 5:30 p.m. Again - please contact me if you would like to join.
I'm looking forward to the Christmas break and the New Year. Best wishes to everyone for Christmas and the New Year!

Spaghetti Sauce
Tonight we venture into a new area. We are making spaghetti sauce. I use the recipe that my aunt used to make for us when I was growing up. It's hard to eat sauce out of a jar after you've had homemade. Looking forward to passing this recipe on.
Next week we'll be making carrot cake muffins with cream cheese icing. Other recipes we'll be covering over the next weeks are: Potato and Bacon soup, blueberry cake, chicken fingers, home made quick and easy Stroganoff, and soda bread buns.
I'm hoping to be able to fit in some special classes for Christmas cookies and Christmas baking. I've already completed a class for Christmas fruit cake and it was a success.
Email me if you have any questions or are interested in joining Farmhouse Kitchen.

Last Night's Class and the September Schedule
We had a fun night last night. It was "bring a friend" night and we made chocolate chip cookies. The house smelled wonderful! The kids all had a great time and couldn't resist trying a cookie before they went home. Next week we're making Anna's Soda Bread Buns. I'm looking forward to the class. I always enjoy rolling out the dough and cutting the buns. They taste so delicious by themselves but I can never resist spreading some jam over a nice fresh, warm soda bread bun. It should be especially good this time because I still have lots of the homemade strawberry jam from the last term of classes. I can't wait for the kids to try them out.
It's about a month away for the September/October term to start. The classes will be offered as follows:
Monday evening from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
September 13, 20, 27 October 4, 18 and 25th. (This class can only run for 6 weeks due to Statutory Holidays) The cost for this class is $180.00.
Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
September 7, 14, 21, 28 October 5, 12, 19 and 26th. The cost for this class is $235.00.
Wednesday evening from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
September 8, 15, 22, 29 October 6, 13, 20 and 27th. The cost for this class is $235.00.
All costs above include supplies and taxes.
For the September term you can look forward to: Pumpkin Pie, Blueberry cake, and Harvest Soup. I try to keep the recipes seasonal as much as possible. I'm glad that brownies, soda bread buns and chocolate chip cookies are seasonal year round!
Please email me if you have any questions or would like to register for the September classes. Class size is limited to 4 students and is on a first come, first serve basis.

What's Happening?
Well, this session of classes is doing well! They have already learned how to make pizza and carrot cake with cream cheese icing. Tomorrow is the next class and we're going to be making one of my family's favourties....potato and bacon soup. I'm looking forward to it!
It's time to think about the fall. I know that summer is only half over but it is going by so quickly that I have to start getting set up for September. I will be posting the class schedule soon so keep coming back to see the updates. Don't forget that my class sizes are limited to 4 and they will soon fill up so if you want a certain day or time be sure to email me and sign up!

Chicken Fingers!
The house smells wonderful! We made chicken fingers tonight and they are delicious! The choice for next week is still undecided....oatmeal cookies or carrot cake? I will have to let you know!
I'm waiting for the strawberries to be ready for the strawberry jam. I'm hoping that they will be ready soon so we can make some before the end of term. I'll keep you posted on that one too!
Thanks for stopping by to see how the Farmhouse Kitchen Cooking School is doing!

Testing Driving the Ovens
I'm going to test drive the ovens for Farmhouse Kitchen over the weekend. Can't wait to try them out and see if I need to tweak any of the recipes. Not sure if I should try the cookies first or maybe the soda bread buns.... either way the results will be tasty!

A description of Farmhouse Kitchen
Farmhouse Kitchen is basic cooking instruction for young people aged 8 and up. Students will gain the skills necessary to help in the kitchen now and to prepare healthy food when they leave home.
In these busy times we would like to teach our children ourselves, but we don’t seem to be able to find the time. These instructions are the opportunity to learn important life skills. I would love to have the pleasure of teaching your child and watching them learn and grow.
Classes are held in my farmhouse kitchen and last an hour and a half.
